Life can be a lot of things, and one of them is most definitely dramatic.
Sometimes dramatic can be good. A dramatic sunset. Dramatic outfits or makeup. Dramatic movies and television.
And sometimes drama is not a great thing. I feel like everyone reading this knows what I mean based on some kind of experience in their life. As human beings, we are all incredibly different, which is a wonderful thing. A truly wonderful thing. However, it means sometimes we don’t see eye to eye. And that can put us in situations with a little drama.
This title is a reference to This is Why we Can’t Have Nice Things by Taylor Swift, from the Reputation era. Not only is this era super spooky season appropriate, but it’s my favorite era by a mile or maybe a hundred.
The songs are moody and layered. They express how sometimes we can be happy and sad and angry at the same time. Stress and confused and content. Lost and empty and safe. They are the songs I go to over and over again on a practically daily basis because they speak to me in deep ways.
This era also pushed me to change my life and break out of my shell by travelling to Toronto to see the show. I think so fondly on that trip and how it made me feel and impacted me so far beyond those two days.

I am not going to lie, real life drama is something I try to avoid at all costs. Y’all, life is too short for that, and I am not wasting my time on it. But give me all the dramatic songs and dramatic fashion.
Both of these looks are dramatic with the darker, fall inspired makeup. The polka dot dress was for a night out at Orlando’s go to place for drama (and comedy – I was there to see David Spade): the Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. It was a classic and comfortable look perfect for a night out.
The other look was for a night out at the Ritz, and it was so playful and risk taking and I loved it. The way the sequins from the dress sparkle under the skirt when they catch the light is ever-y-thing. Because under all the drama, there’s always a little sparkle.
Polka dot dress: Wayf // Sequin dress: Michelle Mason // Skirt: Simone Rocha // Shoes: Christian Louboutin // Bag: Saint Laurent
