When the Ritz Carlton here in Orlando announced a Mad Hatter inspired afternoon tea, I knew I couldn’t miss it. It’s not necessarily that I am a die hard Alice in Wonderland fan, I’m more of a “Wonderland” by Taylor Swift, “Just Like Fire” by P!nk kind of girl. But it sounded fun, and I LOVE a good theme. A reason to get all dressed up and slip away into a world just a little different from my own for just a little while.
Of course, that’s always what happens when the Ritz throws an afternoon tea. They do an exceptional job with hands down the best tea I’ve ever had and adorable and delicious foods. They are always willing to accommodate allergies – notice how the trays look different. One is gluten free, both were totally delicious. I mean they put the egg salad in an egg shell. I can’t even!
This tea also included a cocktail, a delightful twist on the French 75 with hibiscus tea syrup that totally impressed me. It made the event a little more adult and certainly more special. I hope there are more fun themed events at the Ritz soon.
For the event, I channeled my inner Alice with my favorite big blue dress. It’s hard not to feel glamourous with that dress on, hard not to have an extra pep in my step. I paired it with pink lipstick and pink accessories, since that felt in line with Alice.
There have been more than a handful of occasions when I have thought that Orlando is kind of like Wonderland. It can be a lot, it can be kind of strange, but it’s magnificent, magical, unique. There’s nowhere I’d rather live, and I feel so lucky to call this place home. And to get to dress up and have afternoons like this one.
