Last week, Michelin Guide came to Florida with an announcement of restaurants honored in Orlando, Tampa, and Miami. The announcement was held at the Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes, which if you follow along on here or Instagram, you know is a favorite hang out of mine.
I tried to get into the actual event, knowing it was perhaps a long shot, but remaining undeterred. However, I did not in fact get in 🙁 But that didn’t matter because I made a reservation for Knife and Spoon, the premiere restaurant at the Ritz that you know I love, and headed over to the resort.
I did walk down and sneak a peek of the outside of the tent and snap some pictures because why not? The resort was totally buzzing with excitement, and it was a joy to be in the building. After exploring, Mom and I headed to dinner, which was phenomenal as usual. If you are in Orlando and love steak, Knife and Spoon is not to be missed. The in-house dry aged beef is unparalleled. The sides and salads don’t disappoint either.
And Michelin agrees with me, as the restaurant was honored with a Michelin star while we dined. Capa, another favorite of mine, Cadence, and Soeski were also honored with stars. A handful of other restaurants were given Bib Gourmand awards and quite a few more were given the recommend. Miami also received some stars, Bibs and recommends, while Tampa restaurants were only given Bibs and recommends.
It was a truly incredibly night for Orlando restaurants. As a foodie who is a little Michelin obsessed it was a big night for me as well. I have only eaten at one Michelin restaurant in Chicago (and it wasn’t my favorite), and there have been no other opportunities for me to do so, until now. So that is kind of mind blowing. To have been there on the big night, even more so.
Chef Gerald, the chef de cuisine at Knife and Spoon came over to celebrate at the restaurant and was so happy to see us. That filled me with joy. I was also able to meet the celebrity chef for the restaurant John Tesar who was so nice. It was great to see these deserving chefs on what is surely one of the greatest moments of their career.
I also ran into Sonny from Domu on the way out of the resort. His restaurant was given the Bib Gourmand award. Both he and his wife were so kind and it was great to meet them on this special night.
I’d be lying if I said wearing stars was on accident. Of course I wanted to wear stars. I wanted to bring them to my favorite restaurants and be a part of the experience head to toe and inside and out. This is one of my favorite fun, summer dresses. I paired it with tonal accessories and a pop of color from magenta lipstick. I love the look, yes, but mostly I just loved the evening from start to finish.
Sure, I didn’t get into the actual event, but sometimes things work out for the best.
