I introduced you to the Helios Grand Hotel not too long ago. It was in soft open and had some kinks to work out. During that visit, I didn’t have the chance to check out the rooftop bar, Bar Helios. I knew I was heading back to investigate with my friend.
We were so excited to visit we bought matching dresses with constellations just as the breathtaking canopy ceiling at the bar. It is so fun to have a friend who is not only not threatened by dressing the same, but excited at the prospect. This is girl power in its finest form.
We brought out our matching crystal Prada bags and Harry Potter wands to try our hand at casting spells and have a magical night.
As the thunder and rain from earlier in the day dried up, it was truly that. We headed to the outdoor signature photo location both before and after enjoying dinner and drinks for pictures that will be a great memory forever. Just as the ones in front of the bar.
While Bar Helios offers indoor and outdoor seating, it was too hot to sit outside, and honestly, our booth with views of the bar was rather iconic. While I can imagine sitting outside at some point, for a first visit, I do think inside is the place to be.
Service was incredible. My friend actually ended up knowing the waitress, which made the evening even more fun. I had heard the cocktails were exceptional and they definitely did not disappoint. My friend had Pandora’s Box, a vodka and raisin cocktail, as well as a glass of sparkling wine. I went with the Greek God, a dirty martini with olive oil, and a bartender’s choice cocktail with vodka and chartreuse. Both were incredible. I would be thrilled to have either again!
We ordered quite a few of the small plates: the crab cake, wagyu sliders, and all three crudos. They feature salmon, scallop, and tuna crudos. Though everything was tasty, I would definitely order the tuna and sliders upon my next visit. I do hope over time the menu evolves and a few more items are added.
While I cannot eat the signature dessert, given all the chocolate, I knew my friend would not be able to resist the Instagram worthy moment. For the babka dessert, one of the staff dips a rose in liquid nitrogen until it is frozen and then holds it while you clap your hands and shatter it over the plate. I’m not sure how much the rose actually has to do with the dessert, but it is a fun interactive dish.
Theme park restaurants can be hit and miss, and I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Bar Helios. Honestly, I was pretty blown away. It is a great addition to the Orlando restaurant scene, and I am already thinking about returning.
