It’s finally feeling like summer in Michigan, and I am soaking up every second. Yesterday I spent the afternoon and evening in Birmingham getting my hair done, grabbing a cocktail at Townhouse, and enjoying dinner with Mom at Forest. It was one of those pretty much perfect days and I am so thankful for it.
Also thankful to know Catherine at Antonino Salon. Not only is she incredibly nice and fun to talk to, but she does an awesome job on my hair #rosegoldhair #pinkhairdontcare
Then my hair kind of matched my lipstick and Milly dress that I bought on final sale hoping it would fit. And it did! I can’t wait to wear this strappy summer number again since it features my favorite flower – calla lilies!
I took a risk with the rainbow nail polish but it was a decision I loved. I mean, how I not be happy with allllll the colors???
In the many years I have been dreaming of taking some concrete step toward publication (be it signing with an agent or an independent publisher – like I did – hiiiiii Magnolia!!!), I thought about different celebrations. When I was in my bourbon phase it was the Pappy Van Winkle flight at Townhouse. When I was in my dessert phase it was the cake cake cake at Townhouse.
Recently as I got to know John the bartender (now bar manager – congratulations!), he said I had to try the Clase Azul Mezcal. I hadn’t stopped thinking about it since and I tried it as a little celebration. OMG! It is worth the hype (and kinda sorta almost the price). If you like mezcal, put it on your list.
The night rounded out with a fabulous dinner at Forest thanks to the entire staff, including and especially our waiter Josh, and some amazing food and drinks. I didn’t snap photos of the appetizers but the scallops were incredible – perfectly seared and maybe my favorite bite of the night.
That doesn’t mean the entrée disappointed. The Wagyu tomahawk melted in my mouth and paired so well with the roasted garlic that came with it as well as the sides, asparagus and roasted mushrooms on top of pommes puree. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Coconut sorbet was the perfect dessert giving the 90 degree summer day. The ice cold spicy Casa Dragones margarita didn’t hurt either.
I’m so ready for more fun and carefree summer days.

WOW!! Your hair color looks great!!! And the picture next to your mom really popped the color and highlighted the difference in the blond. It looks really good with your skin tone. And the dress is lovely….
Thanks, Debbie! Yes, it’s easier to see the difference when comparing side by side.
Your skin is glowing! Loving this whole look.
Thank you, Kiara!!
