It’s always nice to have a salon day, and it was particularly needed this week. My hair had been looking a bit too ombre for my taste lately, so I told my amazing stylist Emilio at Alex Emilio Salon that I wanted the dark top to be more in line with the bright bottom of my hair.
He totally listened and created the best golden blonde that makes me feel so summery. He said I belong in California with this new color and I was like duh, that’s where I live in my soul.
This Kate Spade dress with its fun print and lady like flare is so perfect for hot, humid summer days like we’ve had recently.
And I just realized my Manolo sandals kind of match my hair.
Those shoes are still in perfect condition even though they are from 2004 – the date is stamped on the bottom since they were a Neiman Marcus exclusive.
I remember the day I bought them. Mom and I were planning to go to the mall to get them, but she wasn’t feeling well, so Dad had to go. Thirteen years ago these shoes were super expensive and are still rather pricey even by today’s standards.
Dad’s game for whatever, but I totally cringed when they were the first pair he picked up and price checked when we walked in the door. I actually picked up a pair of shoes for school and my very first pair of UGG slippers that day so the total was steep. The salesman just put the receipt in the giant bag and sent us on our way without Dad ever seeing the total.
Since I still have these shoes all these years later and love them, I say they were a great investment.
What’s your favorite splurge?

My favorite splurge was spending the day with you and your mom in Neiman Marcus buying my mother of the groom dresses. At least three years ago still have them still love them. Also you look simply gorgeous with your hair and dress. One of the prettiest pictures I’ve ever seen of you.

Aww, thank you so much, Debbie. I have to give some of the credit to Mom for taking the picture 😉
