The floral print is such a classic that sometimes gets a bad name. People think it’s too girly and unpolished. They think floral prints might not look good on them or are only for tropical vacations or Easter. And while not every floral print dress is for everyone (I mean no single dress or top or skirt or pair of jeans looks good on every single person) and some definitely scream Easter brunch, to stereotype the entire print is wrong.
Floral prints come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and silhouettes. There is most definitely a floral print dress for everyone and every occasion. These blue floral print dresses are two of my old favorites in my closet and could not be more different.
The sleeveless v-neck dress is clearly made for day. It’s for lunch or brunch or running errands when it’s hot out. It’s for vacation and walks on the beach. It’s comfortable and casual and classic without being too informal. I paired it with neutral accessories to let the dress speak for itself. Though I could see leaning into the blue color scheme more another time.
The short sleeved, full skirt dress is much more formal. It could do a formal Easter brunch but is better suited for a wedding, event, or fancy night out. It has a big personality and makes a statement that turns heads. The last time I wore it (when these photos were taken), I was stopped by so many people who told me how much they loved the dress. That totally made my day and made me want to break it out of the closet a lot more than I do.
Because it’s a more formal dress that puts those floral print stereotypes to shame, I paired it with all the sparkles for my shoes and bag, along with lapis beads to bring out the blue. Those are actually Mom’s beads (we happily share jewelry) that I believe she got before I was even born and they are as stunning as ever.
Do you wear floral prints?

I do or should I say did wear a floral dress or two, especially when in the Dominican Republic. It’s very summery and is white with bold flowers in pink, blue and green. I just love it but haven’t had an opportunity to wear it lately. Your post inspires me to get it out of the closet this summer!!! Thanks. Your two looks are just perfect. Love both of the dresses but the evening one is spectacular!
Ooooh, you have to wear that floral dress! Summer is the perfect time, no matter where you are!
