If you read my blog or know me personally, you probably know I’m not a fan of following rules. I’m all for following laws, but as far as dumb rules made for no apparent reason? I tend to buck those to allow me to be me, and I wish more people would do the same.
Fashion rules are definitely meant to be broken. When it comes to fashion, it should be all about what makes you feel good and happy, not what a bunch of people think should make you feel good and happy.
So last weekend, it was warm and sunny and I wanted to dress like it was still summer. So I did.
I’m ub-sessed with this Johanna Ortiz top that I finally received from Moda Operandi a couple weeks ago after having ordered it about six months ago. It was the first Moda purchase that worked out for me, and I love it, so did a lot of other people, as I received lots of comments and complements on it.
It’s fun and flirty and very comfortable. Plus, it pairs well with several things, but I loved the fresh vibe this white denim skirt gave it. There is something so striking about a white skirt and the clean lines in this totally balance the large ruffles of the top.
I kept the rest of the look simple and love that I totally felt like I was in the middle of July instead of the middle of September.
What fashion rules do you break?
Top: Johanna Ortiz // Skirt: rag and Bone // Handbag: Prada // Shoes: Charlotte Olympia // Sunglasses: Tiffany
Wow! #fashion #diva Lucky you Laura! Great designers…And completely agree. Looking beautiful is not actually dictated by the label but how it makes you feel…Trust you feel beautiful!
Thanks, Kim! I love to splurge on nice pieces and it is so worth it – they last forever. I’ve had some of my clothes and shoes for ten years!
What a great look!! Love the top! And paired with the skirt, it is definitely a great outfit!! Love the color too. Let’s see….I carried my white purse after Labor Day! Oh and I am still wearing flip flops!
Thanks, Debbie! We can break fashion rules together!
