Real talk today.
I love fashion and clothes and outfits and creating looks and I love sharing them here on my blog. That side of me is more my passion than food even, I have realized.
In order to show you my looks, I have to take pictures. Mom or Dad takes them, depending on whom I am out with. We try to stay out of other people’s way and mind our own business.
For some reason, other people don’t feel the same way. I think it has something to do with where we live. People don’t understand dressing up, taking pictures, posing like a model (California dreamin’ harder than ever). They don’t understand that I can be a model without actually being a model. Like so many other popular fashion bloggers out there, I am trying to build a brand and make a name for myself. I am proud of this dedication, not embarrassed by it.
While a recent heckler (I don’t know what else to call him shouting “picture” and such) was an annoyance, it was a lady on the day these photos were taken that really upset me.
After getting my hair done (shout out to Alex Emilio Salon in Royal Oak!) and dining at Triple Nickel in Birmingham, Mom and I stopped for a couple groceries on our way home. It was a chilly, rainy, generally pretty nasty evening. As we were about to walk in, I thought the umbrella would make for some cute pictures.
So we stopped under and awning and took a few. A lady stopped in the middle of this weather to share some nastiness of her own. Talking about how it didn’t make sense I had sunglasses on with an umbrella. It’s raining. She kept saying it over and over, for maybe a minute, taking time to stop on her trip to the grocery store to try to bring me down.
It worked for a bit, but not too long because I am sharing these pictures. I am proud of them, not in a stuck up, look at me kind of way, but in a this is me and my style, not what I saw in a magazine or on a celebrity. This is who I am. And I don’t think I’m so bad.
The sunglasses kind of make this look awesome. And if you meet me, there’s a good chance I’ll be wearing them. Sunnies are my jam in any kind of weather 🙂
Here’s to spreading compliments and positivity, not hate and negativity!

You look absolutely adorable! I love that you like to dress up and have fun! My oldest daughter does that for special occasions. She is misunderstood and underappreciated by those who want to bring her down too. Sad! She is like you and moved on from their rudeness and enjoys life. She and I dressed up and went to the Cherry Poppin Daddies concert earlier this week and had a blast with their swing music! This was after she worked a long day at work! My daughter is So intelligent, caring, and fun! Don’t let those miserable fuddy-duddies bring you down! That’s no fun! Enjoy life to the fullest! You got what it takes and know the answers to life! Positivity “is” the answer! <3 You got this!<3

Thank you so much for your nice comment, Irene! It means a lot to me. It is sad that people want to bring others down for putting in a little effort, but I’m glad your daughter keeps being her. Have a great weekend 🙂 xo

People can be so rude. I’m sorry you had to listen to that hag, but I’m glad it didn’t bring you down. 🙂

I love that dress on you! The colors are great and the pattern perfect. I too, like your readers above, think she is jealous. Her opinion doesn’t matter. Some people feel like they have to say something when no one asked them. You look lovely and I even wear my sunglasses sometimes when it is raining!
