Is the dress black or navy? Well, in this case, one of each.
Black and navy are often easily confused, but both are classic, flattering colors. I actually don’t wear either very often in favor of brighter, bolder colors and patterns, but I have to admit, I really enjoyed wearing these dresses recently. They are both staples in my closet and I kind of forgot how lovely they are.
Aside from the different lengths and different waist accents, these dresses have similar vibes in general with their high necks and easy to wear sleeveless silhouettes. They are super classy but still striking.
The black dress is paired with a neutral bag and black shoes for a refined look.
The navy dress, which has black accents around the waist chain, so yes, that dress is actually black AND navy, is paired with a bright bag and super fun sandals. This dress is more playful while still being sophisticated. By wearing bold accessories with it, I took the outfit in a fun direction. I could also have paired it with muted accessories for a more professional look.
I also LOVE putting on Mom’s lapis beads with this dress. They pair so well and add another tonal pop of color.
Red lipstick rounds out both looks. It’s another thing that I used to wear much more frequently, and I cannot figure out why I set it aside. The best red with blue undertones (Dior 999, always and forever) makes teeth look whiter and adds a bold statement with almost no effort.
Sometimes, with fashion it’s great to take risks, and sometimes it’s just as good to keep it simple.
