The biggest lesson I learned at Sangria University is I don’t really like sangria.
Which I guess means I failed.
I don’t think I’ve ever failed a class or even an exam before.
I certainly haven’t ever had so much fun failing.
Coronado Springs runs Sangria University Saturdays and Sundays at Three Bridges Bar and Grill, which is in the middle of the lake. So it’s beautiful, and on a chilly April afternoon, the breeze was almost cold in the open air restaurant. I’ve learned in Florida, it’s better to be chilly than hot, though I should have brought a wrap.
I hadn’t been to Coronado Springs before and it is a stunning and sprawling resort. I was so impressed and loved walking around the lake and checking out all the flowers. Even if you don’t go to Sangria University, if you have the chance to check out this resort, I highly recommend it.
But I do highly recommend Sangria University as well, even though I didn’t like the main star of the show: the sangria.
It was a fun and informative afternoon. They provided snacks, including a special allergen free version for us. Everyone received guacamole and we were given vegetables instead of chips. I haven’t ever had guacamole like it before, with a lingering kick of chile powder that was addictive.
Drinks were also plentiful if you drank all the sangria and most people did. Everyone was presented with a small pour of Sparkling, White, Rose, and Red Sangrias, each with different additions and garnishes. Hanging in their little wine tree, they were really striking, but honestly, they lacked flavor in a major way. You were also able to make your own glass using the wine and additions of your choice.
Our professor had an awesome personality and took us through the history of sangria and how it connects to Disney. It’s quite the story and kept everyone interested for the duration of the class.
For the day I wore an easy breezy (literally – I had to make sure my skirt stayed down in the wind) and super brightly colored dress. It made things feel even more festive and happy, as though that was even possible.
Cheers to having fun, even if you don’t ace the class 😉

Looks like a cool place and fun day for the family! Did Mom and Dad feel the same way about the Sangria? Do you think you would make it and jazz up the flavors? Your fashion was fabulous as usual!

Yeah, we all weren’t fans of the sangria. And, good question, probably. Maybe I need to get in the kitchen to test some recipes …

Sounds like a fun time! I DO like sangria, so I’d ace this. 🙂

If you ever come to Florida again, I hope you check the class out!
