I’ve paid quite a few fashion tributes to Taylor Swift lately, but today this title and outfit is inspired by Carrie Underwood. While I won’t be able to see the Denim and Rhinestones tour, I have seen Carrie twice in person and have followed her career since the beginning. I remember voting for her on American Idol and falling in love with her version of “Alone” by Heart.
Her songs and style are both quite iconic. It’s been a little too long since I have jammed to “Church Bells” or “Undo It.” She has so many songs that pack both an emotional punch and a strong beat. Like Taylor her country roots have evolved into the pop genre and her style keeps evolving too.
I have found my style to be evolving over the years as well. While you probably notice I re-wear a lot of the same things over and over again, I also have a lot of fun adding new selections to my closet that are probably different than what I would have bought in the past.
This look features a lot of newer pieces. The trendy, fierce denim dress could totally go from day to night. I’ve actually only worn it once before, and I really want to bring it into rotation more because I love everything about it. The shoes are to (mostly – I just can’t part with them!) replace my old blue ones of the same style. With the rhinestone buckle and shimmery fabric, they really stand out, but not quite as much as the Prada Re-Edition that I debated on for a loooooong time. I’m so glad I decided to get it because I end up carrying it quite a bit.
Carrie Underwood was definitely onto something with the rustic, but fancy combination of denim and rhinestones.

Yes, she is my favorite Idol, and I still love her music.
