While I definitely enjoy living in Orlando, I haven’t made some of the big, outstanding memories here that I did in the Detroit area. However, when a friend invited us to join him and his family at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando for an event unveiling the new Peacock Alley (which we’ve already seen a couple times) featuring Dos Hombres Mezcal (which I love honestly) with an appearance by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, I was in.
Okay, I was literally jumping for joy. I was a whole vibe all Sunday just waiting for Monday to arrive.
I should also note that this same friend (hi Dale!) met the guys in May 2022 at Rocco’s Tacos for a similar, but much crazier event. He promised me a signed bottle, but it literally got lost in the shuffle, so this was finally my chance.
The event was pretty quiet, definitely more so than most of the Dos Hombres events that feature personal appearances from the founders and stars of Breaking Bad. Mom and I arrived early, and I ran into Christina from Go Epicurista. I have followed her since I moved to Orlando, and we have chatted quite a bit on Instagram but never met in real life. It was so cool to connect with her – she is absolutely a delight.
As are Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. They took the time to chat and take photos with everyone there. They seemed to truly be enjoying themselves. Mom and I invited our friend Dale to join us for a photo, then Mom asked if I could get one alone. Bryan remarked that it made sense I would want one “without the parents.” Of course it would seem I was with my parents but it was hilarious to all of us since Dale is our friend and Dad was unfortunately stuck at work. We are still laughing about that moment and will be for a long time.
We also bought a bottle (and another for a friend) that was not only signed by the guys but engraved with the date and location. It’s a wonderful keepsake of the night! The ladies doing the engraving were seriously talented.
Once the line of people was cleared, the guys got behind the bar to pour some cocktails and entertain the crowd. They never missed a beat and apparently really enjoyed the Heisenberg cocktail created by one of the bartenders we know. It features pineapple and green chartreuse (or genepy when they can’t get their hands on the chartreuse). So refreshing!
They exited the bar after a bit, and so did we. We all retreated to Bull and Bear with all our friends, some of their friends, and the bartender who created the cocktail I mentioned, along with his son. It was fun to just hang out, relish in the fun night and enjoy cocktails and conversation.
All the sudden here come Bryan and Aaron to have dinner (before heading off to bartend Drake’s birthday party in Miami!!!). They stopped by our table then and when they left to chat with the bartender’s son, even remembering his name. It is so clear they absolutely love doing this and meeting fans, connecting with people. That made the night all the more special.
I hope I get to have more moments like this in Orlando with great friends. But I’ll be living off this one for awhile.
