Over the years I have come to rely on online shopping for the vast majority of my purchases year round, not just at the holidays. This makes is super easy in so many ways – I don’t have to leave the house, anything I can dream of is at my fingertips, no crowds – but there are also downfalls – not supporting the local economy and small businesses, not being able to touch products, missing the magic of the holiday season.
So this year, I decided that while I would do some online shopping, I would place much more emphasis on getting out and shopping in person. Now, I’m actually almost done with the shopping and it has been a blast.
I love seeing all the stores and malls decorated. I sing along to the Christmas music. I smile at my fellow shoppers. I got some great deals and gifts I know are going to be a hit. At the end of these shopping days, my feet hurt, my arms are sore from those heavy bags, and I am famished.
While I could eat out, if you know anything about me, you know that by the time I’ve been out for hours and it’s dark outside, I want nothing more than to get home, put on my loungewear, and chill out. Luckily Kroger has me, and you, covered with their loyalty member deal for $1 off a 1.25L Coca-Cola™ beverage or 1L DASANI® when you buy a fresh ready to heat pizza for $5.99 (making the drink nearly free)! (valid through 12/3/17 – 1/3/18).
Not only is this an amazing deal, but it makes for one tasty dinner. As the pizza baked, the whole house smelled like a fancy pizzeria and it looked like one too when I pulled the golden brown pizza from the oven with tons of gooey cheese and a crispy crust.
While the pizza baked, I hydrated with the DASANI since the air in the mall is so super dry and my skin is already parched this time of year. I love how refreshing DASANI is and that it always quenches my thirst. I also whipped up a quick kale and pear salad with balsamic dressing.
I always keep washed and prepped fruit and vegetables on hand so it was a breeze to make the salad. I grew up eating salad with my pizza, so this was the perfect complement to my dinner and left me satisfied and ready for another shopping adventure.
Let Kroger make this holiday season a little less stressful with this awesome deal on pizza and DASANI!
Salad
1 bunch kale, stems removed and washed
1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced into half moons
1 bulb fennel, cored and sliced
2 Bosc pears, cored and sliced
¼ cup balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon grainy mustard
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
3 tablespoons olive oil
Combine kale, onion, fennel, and pears in a large bowl. In a small bowl, whisk together vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Slowly drizzle in the oil while whisking. Pour over the salad and toss to combine. Serve immediately.

Was this a recipe, or a Kroger ad?

To be totally honest, Kelly, it is a recipe and a sponsored post for Coca-Cola and Kroger. Like most bloggers, I do sponsored posts as a way to make a small amount of money that isn’t even enough to pay the cable bill. Understand the post was entirely written and photographed by me and expresses my opinions.
