I very often shy away from patterns. I love bright colors, but usually in solids. When I saw this Elizabeth and James outfit on Saks’ website and it was on sale, I had to have it.
I’m very into Elizabeth and James right now. Their clothes are hip and trendy without feeling too edgy. They also happen to fit me really well.
I had to get used to wearing this outfit with the high neck, tight fitting pencil skirt, and bare midriff, but once I did, I totally fell in love with it. I got complements on it all day long. I think that was because it’s so different from what I typically wear.
With the bold pattern, I chose to keep my accessories simple. I chose my favorite YSL sandals and handbag. Bright pink lipstick added just the pop of color my outfit needed.
This skirt and top are perfect for summer, but I also think the skirt will be nice in chillier months paired with a black sweater. I love separates that will work with other things already in my closet.
I already can’t wait to wear this again and maybe add some more patterns to my wardrobe.

Thanks, Debbie! I would wear it, but the skirt is so tight that I don’t think I’d be very able to walk up all those stairs!
