The holidays have come and gone in the blink of an eye. I definitely made the most of them, though. I have spent tons of time with Mom and Dad. We’ve watched more movies than I thought was possible, everything from Match Point and Rain Man to Despicable Me 1 and 2. Mom and I went shopping and picked up a couple Ralph Lauren sweaters on sale! We saw War Horse on stage. It may be my new favorite show. It is different from anything we have ever seen before, and I highly recommend seeing it if you ever have the chance. We also did lots of relaxing, which is exactly what I want my holidays to be about.
Christmas Day itself was simply delightful. After a leisurely (albeit boring) breakfast of oatmeal (I had to save up for what was coming), we opened presents! Christmas is about spending time with the people I love and making memories, but come on, we all have to admit, it’s so fun tearing into presents. Most of my presents weren’t exactly a surprise since Mom likes ideas and I even had to help her order a few 😉 I got three skirts, but only ended up keeping one from Valentino Red. It was by far my favorite present. I am seriously in love with this skirt! I unwrapped a lot of books I asked for and Justin Timberlake’s newest CD. There was some makeup, including a fun green lipstick I can’t wait to try, plenty of nail polish (duh!), and some stuffed animals. The only real surprise was a tiny Michigan Hello Kitty Dad picked up. I’m not a Michigan fan, but I love Hello Kitty and am enamored with my toy! Gorgeous Ugg slippers and the annual Swarovski snowflake ornament rounded out my gifts.
I did receive a bracelet from Tiffany, but it was one of those UPS delayed gifts, so it came the day after Christmas. I found the clasp really difficult to operate, so I’m returning it for the matching necklace. I can’t wait to show you! Plus, Tiffany kindly sent a $50 gift card for the shipping issues!
Next it was Mom’s turn to open. I found some awesome surprises for her. She loved her track suits and makeup. She is returning one jacket I found for her, but the gorgeous leather jacket I found fits like a glove. And the black and white Milly dress is so perfect on her. I was thrilled Mom liked her presents. She already can’t wait to wear the jacket and I don’t blame her.
Dad went last. He got a bunch of movies he asked for, along with a book Mom and I picked up. His stand out present was a Shinola watch. Mom and I chose it from all of their styles and he loved it. What’s really cool about Shinola watches is that they are made here in Detroit! The watch has a really clean look and we all love that it’s a locally made product. Dad is a watch collector so this was the perfect gift for him!
After the present opening ceased, we all tried on and explored our gifts. Then it was time to head to the kitchen! I made Snickerdoodle Cookie Cups with Maple Buttercream. They were delish and I’ll be sharing the recipe very soon! Mom got the prime rib all ready for the oven.
While everything was cooking, we watched some movies and chilled. Then it was time to eat our amazing dinner before more chilling and watching more movies. I didn’t even turn on my computer all day. It was just the rest we all needed! I hope you all had a great Christmas as well!
I don’t know where the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve went, but I blinked and the calendar said 2014! NYE was quiet. We stayed home and watched the coverage from Times Square. I’m just hoping 2014 has great things in store for all! Happy New Year!
