Fashion Friday: Deborah Lippmann Hard Rock Nail Polish

I’ve already told you all about my nail polish obsession, but for this week’s Fashion Friday, I wanted to spotlight my absolute favorite nail product, because in my world, nail polish is definitely central to fashion.

I spent years (seriously years) trying to find the ultimate nail polish top and base coat.  It didn’t matter if they were together or separate, I just wanted a clear coat that would save my manicure and my nails.  But I couldn’t find anything I liked, as I bounced from brand to brand.  Even when I loved a company’s colorful polishes, I found their top and base coats lackluster.  They were bubbly, took too long to dry, chipped frequently, weren’t shiny enough, or didn’t protect my nails like they should.  It was super frustrating and left me wondering if I’d ever find the perfect clear nail polish.

Luckily, a few years ago, I found Deborah Lippmann’s Hard Rock top and base coat.  It never gets bubbles, dries in a timely fashion (no sheet marks – yay!), prevents chipping for the most part (even though I’m always cooking, cleaning, and washing my hands), is crazy shiny, and makes my nails really strong.

All Deborah Lippmann products are fabulous, but this top and base coat is not only the best Deborah Lippmann product, it is the best nail product out there.  Whether I’m wearing Deborah Lippmann color or that of another one of my favorite brands, Hard Rock brings out the best in it.  I was using it as a top coat only, but then I Tweeted with Deborah Lippmann herself (love when celebrities Tweet with me!) she suggested I use it as a base too, and now I love it and my strong nails even more.

What’s also great about this is that it’s an affordable luxury.  At only $20 a bottle, you’ll get numerous uses out of it and it will prolong your manicure so it’s well worth the cost.  The next time your polish is chipping and looking a little lackluster, pick up a bottle of Deborah Lippmann Hard Rock.  You’ll love it as much as I do.

Oooh – I need a new base/top coat. I hate sheet wrinkles too – especially on my fingers!

I am soooo not a nail girl, I never wear nail polish. I just feel like it comes off so easily and when I’m cooking and stuff usually I just think it’s in the way. I always envy pretty nails though

My mom rarely does her nails because she’s always afraid the polish will end up on the food, but I’m really careful and don’t typically have that much trouble with chipping.

Yeah, it can really be a false economy to buy cheaper brands, when it comes to something like this. I don’t paint my nails often but I will see if we have this brand locally.

I actually buy it from my local Neiman Marcus and pay full price to make sure I’m getting the real deal.

Yeah… by local I really meant in the UK 😉 Which doesn’t always have the same products available, even online, unless you’re willing to pay transatlantic shipping!

Thank you for this review! I’m so hard on my nails, it seems like my manicures last about 30 minutes before they start chipping. I can’t wait to give this brand a try! 🙂 –Fran

I’ve never seen that brand, but I’ve been neglecting my nails lately so I will definitely look for it. Thanks for the recommendation! When it comes to fashion and beauty I am clueless!
