As I get older, I am becoming more comfortable putting outfits together and wearing what makes sense and looks good to me even if other people may disagree. Important life lesson: you can’t please everyone!
I get bored wearing the same black skirts over and over again just because they go with all the sweaters and shirts in my closet. I have so many fun skirts that are sometimes hard to pair with tops, so when I want to wear them, I just go for it and hope it works.
With this outfit, I paired a tweed jacket with a polka dotted skirt. This outfit works because the neutral tones in both the jacket and the skirt work well together. Both also have black in them to allow the outfit to flow. That’s the trick to pairing patterns, picking colors that work well together.
The black pumps bring the whole outfit together and my handbag adds a pop of color. A gold bag would have worked really well, but I don’t have a gold bag and I wanted to carry this one. Sometimes a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do 🙂
The next time you are about to pull out the black skirt you’ve worn a million times, try a unique and different combination. You just might be surprised at how well it works together!
By the way, isn’t the fall foliage around me beautiful??? Love those colorful leaves.
Jacket: St. John // Skirt: Valentino RED // Shoes: Christian Louboutin // Bag: Burberry Prorsum
You have no idea the perfect timing for this post! I’ve in a fashion rut right now and I need to try new things but I’m always so scared I will be judged! My husband says to “own” whatever i wear 🙂
Just have fun – they’re only clothes. Plus, I’m sure you’ll look better than all the people out there wearing sweats. Your husband sounds like a smart guy!
You look great in everything!! Darling outfit and the setting with the beautiful trees turning colors in the background is just perfect! Love it!
Thanks, Debbie! Those trees were so gorgeous. They are long gone now 🙁
