We’ve heard fashion advice for years. Don’t wear white after Labor Day. Don’t match your purse and shoes. Don’t wear black and navy.
But I’m here to tell you a lot of the time fashion rules are meant to be broken. Wear what you love, what makes you feel good, what’s in your closet, even if some of the so called experts say you shouldn’t.
I say fashion has one rule and that is to have fun! Life is serious and hard and picking out what to wear shouldn’t be.
I definitely wear white after Labor Day. I love matching my purse and shoes (sometimes), and black and navy – it’s my jam.
While black and navy is a combination I love to put together all the time, this Elizabeth and James dress is my favorite example. I mean if Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen say it’s okay, then it totally is. WWMKAD (What Would Mary Kate and Ashley Do), right???
Not only does this dress pair black and navy, perfectly, but it also fits great, is young, and super cool and hip with the chain at the waist to show a little skin.
I added black and gold glitter shoes (because I can also never have enough glitter #sorrynotsorry) to further accentuate the combo and add a metallic pop. My trusty black purse finished the look.
Whether I’m shopping, heading to a concert or event, or grabbing dinner, this has become one of my favorite dresses and has solidified my love of wearing black and navy together.
