Hey everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving full of great food and the people you love. I just have a few things I wanted to tell you all about.
First it was my mom’s birthday over the weekend. Though a bunch of snow (blech) put an end to our dinner plans, she still had a nice day full of movies, flowers, gifts, and birthday pie. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? She’s the most important person to me and as I said on Twitter she is the best person I ever have and ever will know. The celebration will continue with our rescheduled dinner plans in December and a gift that shipped a little late. She deserves every bit of celebrating.
Have you heard of Collin Street Bakery? If not you have to check out their Deluxe Fruitcake. I ordered it once before after Marc Murphy talked about it on The Best Thing I Ever Ate. I don’t like many fruitcakes, but this one is amazing. I crave it all the time. They kindly send me on this year and I can’t get enough of it. It’s loaded with pecans and tons of dried fruit. Whether you order it as a gift or just want to try it yourself, you have to check it out.
Also, when you’re grocery shopping this holiday season, pick up a couple bags of Way Better’s holiday snack chips. As always they are whole grain, non-GMO, and gluten free, which I love. They are a snack you can feel good about this holiday season. Be sure to check out both Oh Snap! Ginger Snap and Everything Nice Apple Cinnamon Spice.
Finally, in this, the busiest time of year, I wrote a post for SheKnows about the little messes I have around the house that I am not cleaning up. So often we obsess over little things when the bigger things matter so much more. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather leave those dishes so I can catch up on the last bit of Scandal. Don’t spoil it for me please!
Have a safe and happy holiday and I’ll be back this weekend with two awesome recipes!
Disclaimer: I was provided with a fruitcake and the chips for review, but all opinions, as always, are mine.
Happy Birthday to your mom! Actually the snow means it’ll be an extended birthday celebration — always the best kind. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!
Lovely post – sounds like you treated your mom to a wonderful birthday, with more to come!
Wow, that’s not your grandma’s fruit cake. That one I would actually eat and not make fun of!! Yes, I was so sorry that your dinner plans had to be cancelled for the snow!!! Not fair at all! Well you and your dad made it special for her and she had a great day in spite of the weather. You are a great daughter!
Aww thanks, Debbie. Yes, that is one awesome fruitcake.
