This time of year, that’s quite literally what leaves are, isn’t it? With their yellows and oranges and reds and browns, they usher in a new season, different weather, various feelings, emotions, tasks.
Our leaves happened to be prettier than in recent memory this year, so they brought with them some stunning views and lots of smile. With waaaaaaay better than average weather, I also had plenty of opportunity to not just look out the window to see them against a grey sky (or covered with snow like last year 🙁 ) but to interact with them. Smell them. See them up close an personal in all their different shades and shapes. Feel them crunching underneath my shoes.
It’s funny to be hoping for change right now. Ordinarily I’d be clinging to summer, sad to see those months go, another year pass. This year, it’s not like that. Another day, month, season gone is another day, month, season closer to being on the other side that is our current unfortunate collective experience in life.
Favorite clothes don’t have to change despite things that are and things we wish were. I have had this dress for … um … ever. Taylor Swift wore it to some award show in pink in what feels like another era entirely. It’s a lot of dress, so it was nice for this somewhat chilly day when paired with a plaid jacket that for some reason pairs well with it.
With the sun shining brightly, I was actually able to enjoy a nice al fresco dinner. I thought it would be my last of the season, but spoiler alert, it wasn’t. Everything is kind of wrong with the world, but the weather hasn’t been too bad at all.
My favorite thing about the changing leaves continues to be how the color alters the look of the world. The reflections and shades change and give each day this magical little glow. It’s time to glow on with life and hope some more, good, change is headed our way.

WOW!! You really did have some wonderful colors this fall… Ours weren’t that great but love looking at your colors and a beautiful sunset. I remember that dress and it still looks fab and paired with the jacket, really nice an fall-ish. Looking great just like the colors of fall….

We had unbelievably beautiful fall colors. I’m sorry yours weren’t great – fingers crossed for next year.

Our leaves were kind of dreary this year, although they did brighten up at the end. Almost all are off the trees now. Time to rake! 🙂

That’s the trouble with those pretty leaves- the clean up.
