I have worn this dress before and posted about it right here on the blog. It’s even what I’m wearing in the little photo on my sidebar.
It’s a comfortable, versatile dress that looks like a bright floral print in summer and a holiday/Valentine’s Day thing in the winter.
I almost always pair it with red. Red lipstick. Red shoes. Even a red purse.
It’s the obvious combination.
But I don’t post about fashion to always do the obvious. I post about it to take chances with what I am wearing and encourage you to do the same. I do it with other outfits, so it only made sense to do the same with this dress.
I don’t have anything red or pink on other than the dress, and it pops in a totally different, evening appropriate way than the typical daytime look.
From smoky eyes to nude glittered lipstick and a wild printed bag to sky high sparkly stilettos, nothing truly matched and yet, it’s a look that works.
I wore it when we went to Besa, the restaurant I posted about earlier this week.
When is the last time you took a fashion risk?
Dress: Giambatista Valli // Shoes: Jimmy Choo // Bag: Burberry // Wrap: Gucci
PS Aren’t Mom’s Stuart Weitzman bow pumps cute? There might be a couple left on sale if you look really hard.

I really like this look! Just curious, have you ever tried a makeup primer that is good for photos? A few companies make them, I know Smashbox has one. It helps your foundation look more translucent in photos taken with a flash.

Nichole! I have not tried makeup primer before but I will check it out. Thanks for the tip!

I don’t ever take risks in my wardrobe. It’s usually very monochromatic and mostly black! I just happened to have the TV on Ellen yesterday and Julia Roberts was on and she was in a red outfit. She said she felt better in color and was trying to wear it more often or something to that effect. When I worked, I did more color and more risks. I even work pink and red together and got many stares!! LOL! Maybe a fashion risk is in my retired future….Your’s looks terrific!!!

YESSSSSSS! I saw Julia Roberts on Ellen and she looked amazing. I want an outfit like that. I hope you wear more color too – I know you can rock it!
