A few weeks ago I had the chance to see Wicked for the third time. I wasn’t planning on going, but when I saw tickets in the front row on sale, I knew I couldn’t miss it.
It was a lovely Sunday afternoon for a wonderful performance, my favorite iteration of the musical I’ve seen. The actors were exceptional and Ginna Claire Mason who plays Glinda even came out to greet fans after the show. Seeing as they all had another performance, this was so nice.
I channeled my inner Glinda when it came to my outfit. The fun and flowy skirt, playful braid in my hair, and squiggly heels made for a fun outfit that captured the fun vibes of the musical.
Of course, there is also a serious undertone to Wicked with timeless messages about friendship, inclusiveness, and fighting for one’s goals. Those are all messages that resonate with me and seeing them presented so beautifully brought me to tears during Defying Gravity.
I also could not help but think back to the first time I saw Wicked with my parents and Granny. I still miss Granny every day and hope she was there in spirit watching over us and enjoying the show.
Have you seen Wicked? What’s your favorite musical?

Yes, I have seen Wicked thanks to you and your mom and dad! I totally loved it and it was probably my favorite until I saw Hamilton. That is now my favorite! I love that it is based on our history and the music is just so great! The theatre in Chicago where I saw it was small so you felt the intimacy of the time and place.
Yes, the theatre is very intimate and it really is fascinating how the story is told so succinctly through song.
I’ve seen Wicked (performed by the Australian cast)! I still prefer the original Broadway cast with Idina Menzel as Elphaba and Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda though. My favourite musical is Les Miserables (the 10th anniversary dream cast version)! I haven’t been able to listen to any other version since; the 10th anniversary one truly is the best.
I loved Les Miserables as well, but really, I have so many favorites. I really just love seeing musicals and plays – it’s such a joy to experience live theater.
