Though there was no shortage of things to do when I lived in Michigan and I lived in relatively close proximity to Detroit, here in Orlando it seems nearly impossible to be bored. But more than that, I accomplished something I wanted to do for so long. I moved somewhere warm and new and exciting.
Sure, my goal changed a little over the years, as I realized California wasn’t the wisest decision for a plethora of reasons, and I can’t tell you exactly why we chose Orlando as a final destination, but I’m not mad about it. The goal seemed impractical at points with almost insurmountable obstacles.
And then all of the sudden it wasn’t.
And then all of the sudden it happened.
And now I am here.
In a continuation of my posts inspired by the Taylor Swift eras, I present Speak Now this week. The title is a reference to the song Mean, one that got me though many a difficult day or questioning everything about myself due to outside factors. Had it been December, I may have chosen the song Back to December.
While that song is about a breakup, sometimes it reminds me of my “breakup” with Michigan. It wasn’t a bad place to live or grow up; I do have fond memories from there. While I love it here, and I know in my soul I don’t want to return, I have been finding myself nostalgic lately, and going back to my own December of sorts.
That’s the cool thing about music. You take the words and wring whatever meaning from them you can. So while a bunch of people can love the same song, we all take something different from it, and that’s an incredibly powerful thing.
As for the outfit inspiration, purple dresses, with a couple pink ones thrown in were the hallmark of the fun, youthful, feminine era. As for those butterfly shoes, well if you are a swiftie, you know they are an Easter egg for a future post and era.
Purple dress: Kate Spade // Pink dress: Marchesa // Pumps: Jimmy Choo // Sandals: Sophia Webster // Clutch: Valentino // Bag: Ferragamo

Florida is a great place! Glad you’re enjoying it. Stay safe during the hurricane (although you’re in a good spot for that).
BTW, just want to say we’ve just posted our last blog post. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your blog, and I’ll still be visiting. But we’ve got a lot of activities lined up that will be occupying my time, so my visits will be much more sporadic in the future. Best wishes to you.

Yes, I have never been happier to have chosen central Florida as home than during the hurricane. The state took a bad hit.
I will miss your blog, John, but I look forward to seeing you here from time to time. I was a blast getting to know you, and I wish you the best!!
