Mint and Metallic #FashionFriday

In this crazy world, Mom and I had been unable to get our hair done.  Obviously in the scheme of things going on in the world, this ranks relatively low on the totem pole.  However, it’s an important ritual that serves to make Mom, me, and a lot of other people feel better on a daily basis.

This past week we were finally able to go to the salon.  For the first time ever, we went together.  I wanted this since I was nervous about doing it (and well, honestly, anything) by myself with anxiety running uncontrollably high much of the time.  Catherine my stylist at Antonino salon in Birmingham was able to book a consecutive appointment with Nina, a fellow stylist.

It was nice to chat with Catherine, even if our trip to the salon was unlike any we experienced before.  With mandatory masks, temperature checks, and all kinds of distancing and sanitizing going on, it was clear from start to finish all possible precautions were being taken.  That made us feel safe, though perhaps not relaxed.  For me, this isn’t a world that allows for the feeling of relaxation very often.

The end result was spectacular.  Catherine amazes me every time with her skill, and I can’t stop admiring Mom’s hair either.  I do feel a pep in my step with some fresh highlights for summer.

Because I knew we’d continue in the coppery tone family, though we took things a little peachy, I went with lots of metallics in my eye makeup, lipstick (even if no one in the salon saw it 🙁 ), shoes, bag, and nail polish.

As a not so neutral accent, I chose this mint dress.  It’s so easy to wear on hot and sunny summer days.  I turn to it again and again when I want an effortlessly elegant look, and it never disappoints.
