About a month ago, Mom and I headed out to Dearborn on a beautiful summer night. We wanted to grab some dinner and decided to check out Mint 29 and of course get some ice cream because summer = ice cream.
The restaurant is called Mint 29 because it used to be a US Mint. Pretty cool, huh? The interior is nice and it’s in a good location right in the middle of Dearborn. The patio is also lovely, but the sun was blazing on it, so we just snapped some pictures before we left.
Service was good, though a bit slow, and over all the food was really nice too. My blueberry and cucumber mule was absolutely perfect given the warm weather.
I had the dissembled salad with gulf shrimp for dinner. I definitely enjoyed it, but the menu description is incomplete. It mentioned nothing about the heaping helping of olives (which I dislike) and the blood orange vinaigrette was not light and refreshing but heavy since it had been mixed with feta cheese. I actually asked the waiter if I had been brought the wrong salad because based on the menu, I didn’t think it would look a thing like it did.
Mom had the filet. It was tender and well cooked, a serious feat for restaurants it seems. But the char flavor was incredibly heavy. Kudos to Mint 29 for serving prime filet, that is also a feat for restaurants.
We also had the fries and the carrots. They were the absolute highlights of the meal. Neither of us could stop eating the tender, charred carrots, or the piping hot, super crispy fries.
Mint 29 is definitely worth checking out, but if I were them I would make one super simple but huge change. No more paper napkins. This isn’t a fast casual restaurant; it’s one with a $100 steak on the menu. Cloth napkins must be a part of the dining experience.
When we went outside, I noticed my outfit blended right in with the brick. This dress is so perfect for a night out, and I love that I can wear it year round because of the neutral color. I paired it with my butterfly sandals and a purple bag for a pop of color.
The best part of the night was just hanging out with Mom and the Custard Hut, which totally and completely lived up to the Instagram hype.
Keep these sunny, warm days and nights coming, Mother Nature!

This is one of my favorite outfits on you!! You and your mom look terrific! You should enjoy the coming week if your weather is anything like ours….We are going to be in the low 80’s all week! Summer is still here!
Thank you so much! You probably don’t remember but that is the dress I wore when we went to see Justin Timberlake. Oh, yes, the next stretch of weather looks absolutely perfect.
