You know I love to get all dressed up for a fun night out on the town, so I was so excited to have the opportunity to go to a fun Fall 2014 Trend Fashion Show at my local Neiman Marcus! To make things even better, NM fashion director Ken Downing presented the show. I was unable to meet Ken on his last few visits to NM Troy 🙁 so I could barely contain my enthusiasm to be heading to this show.
Mom and I put on some fun, bright colored dresses and headed across town. The store was serving cocktails and appetizers to the invitation only crowd. It was nice to chat with my favorite sales associates, as well as Dolores Baran, who also happens to be my dentist. She’s an awesome dentist – seriously, if you live in metro Detroit, go see her. Your teeth could not be in better hands.
She also introduced us to her friend Karen Buscemi, who also happens to be the editor of Styleline Magazine. I’m always excited when a new issue of Styleline comes in the mail, so it was cool to meet Karen. I’d actually love to be in the pages of Styleline. Perhaps one day they’ll do a feature on me, a young, female, entrepreneur, or even have me write a monthly recipe column. You never know!
Finally it was time for the show to start. Ken spoke throughout the presentation, describing the fashion and telling stories about his life, through a question and answer format with store fashion director Ken Dewey asking the questions.
I spotted my favorite fashions on the runway immediately, though Ken made everything look awesome and I pretty much wanted it all! I did have to limit myself, so I got a gorgeous fall dress and a pearl belt that I know I’ll have forever and wear with tons of things.
Ken’s stories about fashion were engrossing, but I most connected to his tales of hating high school. He didn’t fit in, just like me. He said now he doesn’t much care about or remember those days and his former classmates can Google him. That really inspired me. He made great things happen in his life, and that is what I must do in mine.
I told Ken this when we met, and he was so kind. He said he looks forward to seeing my films on the silver screen soon. He’s a fun guy who seems to have an endless amount of energy, an energy that is infectious. We were some of the last people to leave the store. Honestly, I only want to know when Ken’s coming back to do it again. I’ll RSVP now!

I think you should consider modeling for them, and be able to keep the clothes. Wouldn’t that be fun?
