I can’t help but think of that line from The Great War by Taylor Swift when I wear this outfit. “Place a poppy in my hair …” I don’t have a poppy in my hair in these photos. I totally wish I did, but I love the bright poppy print on this two piece outfit that is one of my favorite additions to my wardrobe in a long time.
There is something about a matching skirt and top that gets me every single time. They are super fun to wear, go from day to night, and fit many occasions. I love wearing the top and skirt separately, pairing them with other pieces to create unique looks. Imagine this top with a white or red skirt or the skirt with a black or white top. I’m excited to try out all those combinations. Plus, much of the time matching outfits have fun patterns like the poppies on these two pieces or the lemons on another favorite in my closet.
Back to this outfit, other than a couple realllllly old black skirts, it’s the first Dolce and Gabbana outfit in my closet. So many of their clothes have such vibrant patterns that are swoon worthy. It’s kind of hard to have a frown or be in a bad mood when wearing items with bright flowers or fruit on them. The line is super flattering and very feminine, and that’s always vital when buying outfits.
I paired it with a crystal bag for evening and a white bag for day plus red pumps that match almost perfectly. I love when things work out that way. Add some red lipstick and smokey eye shadow and the look is complete.
Do you like two piece outfits?
Top and skirt: Dolce and Gabbana // Crystal bag: Prada // White bag: Christian Louboutin // Shoes: Manolo Blahnik
When I saw the first picture, I thought it was a dress! It’s just so cute as a two-piece. I had a two-piece outfit ones that I wore often when I was young, and it was red and white! And I absolutely love red shoes!
I have a few outfits that look like dresses at first glance. Pretty cool things can match up that well. Thanks, Debbie!
