Dad is working. He’s now a manager at Amazon if you didn’t know. I did an Instagram post cheering him on not too long ago. He is one of the amazing people keeping the country moving right now and I respect and appreciate him so much for that.
But it had been about a month since Mom or I had left the house save for some mostly chilly walks. So we all wanted to get out as a family, to have a fun day riding around in the sunshine, supporting some small businesses, kinda getting back to the way things used to be.
Except we didn’t leave the car.
I hope things don’t stay like this much longer.
But it was still good to get out. Get ready with clothes and makeup and the flat iron. Enjoy the sunshine through the car windows and a couple quick walks around quiet parking lots while waiting.
We headed to Ann Arbor, stopping for some coffee at Zingerman’s. I have been making espresso at home pretty much every day. No one is making fun of my desire for an espresso machine now. That is by far our most used gadget ever. But it’s getting a little old, so having coffee from a coffee shop and supporting one of our favorite small businesses was absolutely awesome.
We also drove all around downtown Ann Arbor, past all the University of Michigan buildings, through tulip lined streets. And rounded out our day with a stop for some fresh fish from Monahan’s Seafood.
It wasn’t perfect or ideal or even great, but it was a nice change of pace. And we are excited to do similar things each weekend. It’s time to get out, to inch back to normal.
My outfit isn’t super important. I’ve worn it before … it’s bright and comfortable and it matched the tulips I took a picture with so I’m not mad at it for sure.
Jacket: Current/Elliott // Dress: Parker // Bag: Gucci // Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Really cute outfit even if you have worn it many times! It looks smart and fashionable and terrific on you! Yes, a bit of normal is good as we inch our way back. Lovely looking day for a spin around town…
Thank you, Debbie! That’s how we have to do it, I guess … inch back.
It’s a weird time, isn’t it? Think it’s going to be some time before things are “normal,” alas. Hope I’m wrong about that. Sounds like a fun day!
I hope you’re wrong about that too, John, but we’ll have to wait and see. Seems like a bit of progress is being made.
