Exploring the metro Detroit area is one of my favorite things to do. Though winter eliminates outdoor activities for me, particularly when the wind chill is below zero, there are plenty of indoor activities to keep us occupied.
The Royal Park Hotel in Rochester is glorious. We were there many, many moons ago for a charity event and had heard about their gingerbread train the past few years, so we finally took the time to head out this year and it was so worth it.
We met up with a friend and explored the gorgeous hotel, including the gingerbread train and accessories, which take months to bake and assemble, so they aren’t good for eating, but this feat of architecture is really something to see.
The rest of the hotel was decorated for Christmas, and we stopped in the restaurant for a quick bite to eat and some coffee. Everything from the food to the drinks to the service was wonderful. We can’t wait to go back when the weather is warmer.
For our outing, I wore my favorite cozy sweater that pairs so well with my gold belt. I also tried something different with my hair. I braided it the night before and when I undid the braid in the morning, it had just the right wave. It’s a technique I will be using again and again.
We also drove past the lights at the Lear Corporation Headquarters, which are my favorite in all of metro Detroit.

What a great outing! It looks really cool there, all the decorations and lights. You three look very festive. I love to explore the city here too… We just had Blink Cincinnati a few months ago and it was very cool…
