I love a good floral print and have since I requested a dress that looked like “Allison’s dress” back in preschool. I do not remember who Allison was or what her dress looked like but I have a strong feeling it had flowers on it and I went to Mervyn’s or Kohl’s or Kids R Us and bought one or more floral dresses.
Nothing has really changed. I love dresses and floral prints and flowers in real life. The last of the season’s peonies are hanging on in a vase on my kitchen island and they are heavenly.
Floral prints come in all colors and varieties. Take this dress, for example. It is mostly black. It’s easy to write off all floral print dresses as too girly and feminine, a one note variety of dress that isn’t good for all occasions or personalities. But this dress isn’t pink or white or super girly. It’s still pretty and feminine but with a punch of personality.
I also love that this isn’t technically a floral print. The flowers are all sequined and embroidered. You know I also love a sequin. Mom is probably happy I wasn’t sequin obsessed as a kid. I was enough of a vibe wanting to wear lipstick and heels and pretty dresses without wanting to wear sequins all the time.
The bows and flared skirt offer even more interest in this dress that isn’t like any other floral print I own. I have worn it a couple times recently because it’s such an exciting addition to my wardrobe and it’s actually really comfortable. Each time I paired it with a different pair of shoes.
This dress is perfect for the summer solstice today. I can’t wait to keep playing around with accessories to pair with this fun floral dress that is ready for the entire summer and all the festivities that are part of it.
