I’m not sure I ever thought I would be a state fair kind of girl, but it’s official. I love the state fair.
This is the fourth year I’ve gone to the Michigan State Fair at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. It’s a giant facility that allows the fair to truly shine with activities inside and out.
There are games, rides, booths for shopping local goods, giant pumpkins, a butter cow, a circus, monster trucks, fried foods and cold drinks, and every single category of farm animal you can think of. It is a stereotypical state fair and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
It’s quite beautiful too with the giant ferris wheel against the sky, all the colors and lights on the signs for rides. I just feel good when I’m there, walking around with no real purpose, even if it is Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end to summer.
I like to win a stuffed animal to match my outfit. There weren’t a whole lot of yellow options save for a giant Minion and a giant Pikachu, both of which I wanted, but let’s just say it turns out I can’t really throw. Please, save your shock for another time 😉
I pretty much love this little unicorn … and our shoes matched so I call that a win.
But not as big of a win as spending the afternoon at the state fair with my parents!
And then I played quick change artist to head to dinner at Prime + Proper (where else???) It was the perfect summer day!

Love both of your dresses (especially the evening one) and also your mom’s dress looks fabulous! Your dad looks really good too. Great pictures… Glad you enjoyed the fair and I KNOW you enjoyed Prime and Proper. My mouth is watering for some more of the great food we had when we were there with you all…..
