I kept thinking of a title for this post. Something about contrasts. Black and orange.
And then it hit me, this is Halloween in the middle of summer.
But if we can have Christmas in July, why not Halloween in July? Why does Christmas get all the love?
The top from this look is actually part of a two piece outfit. I love wearing it as a set because it takes the thinking out of getting dressed, but it also lends itself to being separated and paired with other pieces, like this simple black skirt.
I wore this super summery, rather Halloween-y outfit to visit The Henry Ford Museum and check out their Star Trek Exploring New Worlds exhibit with props and more from the TV shows and movies that have made up the Star Trek universe.
I’m admittedly not a huge fan of Star Trek, nor am I of Star Wars, whose exhibit I saw last year at the Detroit Institute of Arts. No one give me a quiz between the two please!
I really enjoyed seeing the costumes and models of spaceships, along with script pages #amwriting. The museum is always a worthwhile visit with trains big and small, cars new and old, and on this visit a tiny, pre-built, round house from the 1950s. There is always something new and exciting.
Not to mention there is basically an entire museum outside as well in Greenfield Village. It’s a great place to take families and a somewhat hidden gem in Dearborn which has plenty of tasty restaurants and coffee shops. It is somewhat pricey so be aware of that before you plan a visit.
What’s a hidden gem in your city?

We really have a few gems in Cincinnati – The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center to which I have yet to go! And then we have a world class zoo which you went to several times when you were a child. Then there are the breweries that keep popping up everywhere! Then of course our Cincinnati Music Hall which has just been renovated. I can’t wait to go there again Your outfit looks great. That’s our Bengals colors!
