A couple years ago I was fortunate enough to visit the Detroit Athletic Club or dinner thanks to Dad’s boss. It was an incredibly memorable night, during which we took a very brief visit up to the Stadium Club surrounding the top floor of the building and looking over Comerica Park.
There was no baseball game that night, but recently when Mom, Dad, and I went to both a baseball game and concert at Comerica, we could see the people at the Stadium Club enjoying the show from a different view.
When I mentioned how cool it looked to Dad’s boss, she suggested we spend an evening up there for a ballgame, one with fireworks no less.
We began our evening just as the game was starting. We ate dinner up there with a really spectacular view of the game. The food was also good, everything from the burgers and homemade potato chips to the ice cream and cappuccinos. The avocado soup special was one of our favorites, and pizza with a view – it doesn’t get better than that.
As the sun set on the city, the view was breathtaking. We took a walk all the way around the building and it was awesome to identify other places and have a look at the city unlike one we had before.
When the fireworks began, my jaw literally hung open. I don’t have words for the show. It was majestic, colorful, memorable. The colorful fountain underneath only added to the show. I wish I could watch every game from up there, as no matter how bad the Tigers are I can’t imagine that view ever getting old. They did win that game!
When the game ended, to be honest, I wasn’t ready to go home. It was literally the perfect night and I didn’t want it to end. I don’t think any of us did, so we all took a walk to Clementina to sit outside with some frozen drinks and charcoal soft serve. OMG that ice cream was so good.
And though I stayed out way too late and drank a little too much, I don’t regret a second of it. It was a blast, a one of a kind experience for which I am forever grateful!
