Admittedly the Kentucky Derby was a few weeks ago, but we’re still in the midst of the triple crown with the Belmont Stakes yet to come, so this floral printed, hat showcasing look is wildly appropriate for all kinds of fun horse race themed activities. Also afternoon tea, charity events, even a nice garden party or wedding.
I spotted this dress in a different pattern on Tiffany Coyne, the model on Let’s Make a Deal (#alwaysbeshopping), which is appointment television for me (#sorrynotsorry). I wasn’t sure how it would end up working out, but I absolutely love it. I did have to pin up the side drape so it wouldn’t drag, but I don’t mind the rosette that creates.
The dress is the first by Katie May to be added to my wardrobe. What’s cool about her dresses is that they are made in the USA and pretty affordable. I doubt this will be the last Katie May dress I purchase.
I tend to wear the same hat every year. It’s fun and given I don’t wear it that much, it’s hard to justify picking up another hat or better yet a fascinator, not that I’m not on the prowl for one.
I paired it with green shoes and a pink purse to bring out different shades in the flowers on the dress, also because it was a fun outing that I wanted to elevate with bright accessories.
The Ritz was the perfect place to Derby, even if my horse did not win. I did pick the winning Preakness horse (shout out to Seize the Grey), and I have my fingers crossed for the Belmont.
I can’t wait to wear this dress again and go to all kinds of fun outings this summer.

Very great derby look! And as she say, can wear it for other occasions as well. Love the dress on you and your idea to pin it up, is perfect 😍
