I do not live on a lake or have a boat, but I have to admit there is definitely a draw to the water, especially on a hot summer day. Especially on Memorial Day weekend. Especially since the state of Michigan is still on stay at home (that’s a whole other tirade, some of which is taking place on Twitter if you’re super interested).
So we took another adventure not too far from home, barely leaving the car to see some of the stunning lakes hanging around this area. After, of course, we grabbed a Starbucks. Regardless of the fact that it was 90 degrees outside, it was most definitely not in the car, and I had a hot coffee #sorrynotsorry y’all.
The blue sky, sunshine, and white puffy clouds were glorious and seeing them shimmer on the lakes makes it all the more stunning. To make it even better, so many people were out and about and boating and wakeboarding and just having fun. In the midst of all of this, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
We did stop at couple spots to get out and take the day in … the fresh air and sunshine and positive vibes, it was all just wonderful.
For the day, I pulled out all the Memorial Day feels with a blue and white checked summer outfit and red sandals (another closet find that hasn’t seen the light of day in forever). Plus, red and blue nail polish and a blue bag. While I was wearing my patriotic feelings, I know the day is about so much more than wearing red, white, and blue.
It’s about spending time thinking about those who have served and died for our country, our freedom. Now more than ever, I am reminded of the importance of that sacrifice and I am ever so thankful <3

Beautiful looking day and you look great in your summer outfit! Yes, the water – lakes, rivers, ocean – have a definite draw and with a boat in my future, I will certainly find myself on the water at some point.
