We’re in the midst of the holiday hustle and bustle. Parties, celebrations, events, dinners, all kinds of outings that are excuses to get dressed up. You know I love all the bright colors, but sometimes it’s nice to keep things classic, simple, with muted colors and little accents of gold.
Not only are the colors in these outfits timeless, but so are the silhouettes as well as the pieces themselves.
A black cashmere sweater is a closet staple. I have worn this sweater with every skirt I own. I lean on it frequently because it has the little button accents that give it a lot of personality and make it more holiday worthy than the other black sweater in my closet that I affectionately refer to as “lumpy” for um … unfortunately obvious reasons :/
This time I paired it with a flared skirt with polka dots and tulle overlay – again classic but elevated, since the colors keep is timeless but the pattern gives it a little something extra.
The jacket is the basis of the other outfit. Sure denim jackets are nice and blazers can be too, but they don’t say holiday or special occasion, but this jacket does. It’s a match made in heaven for skirts or jeans but this time I put it over a dress, and I have actually worn it over other dresses in the past. That’s one of my favorite tricks – a dress changes totally when layered with a jacket.
Add in your favorite bag and shoes, maybe a belt or hair pin or giant earrings, because maybe everything doesn’t have to be timeless 😉 and a look that will never go out of style is born.
