When I was a kid, I was a die-hard Spice Girls fan. I knew the songs, played with the dolls, somewhere still have a VHS copy of Spice World. I liked all of the Spice Girls, but when I grew up and Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice had a stunning and sleek new fashion line, I was obsessed. I had to have one of these dresses with the iconic zipper and curve hugging silhouette.
I ended up lucky enough to have two of the dresses that I still wear. Both are black, incredibly form fitting, and wildly flattering. I don’t have anything else in my closet close to either of these dresses, and I wouldn’t quite classify them as part of my iconic style, but I love them nonetheless. Sometimes it’s fun to be a fashion chameleon.
Victoria still makes dresses though they have a different sensibility than these and aren’t something I foresee adding to my wardrobe right now. That makes me even happier to have these classic black dresses to fall back on time and again. Still, I linked dresses that are the closest I could find to these.
They pair well with black accessories or bright colors. That’s one of the best things about a black dress: dress it up or down, wear it with any bag or shoes. It’s ready to be changed with little additions to the outfit. I tend to grab a black bag when I am wearing these dresses, as I have in all of these photos. But I did mix up the shoes, black with stars in one and sky blue in the other.
From there, though the dresses can take dramatic makeup easily, it’s typically my go-to to go with a classic red lip and a bit of a smoky eye. My looks might not be what Posh Spice herself would put together, but I love them since they are a little bit of me and a little bit of my inner Spice Girl.
