If you visited my Instagram this week, you probably know I have BIG NEWS!
That’s right, I didn’t only achieve one dream this year that I’ve been working toward for over a decade. You know that whole moving to Florida … sunshine … warmth … new house. It’s as awesome as I hoped and I am so grateful.
I’m also finally achieving another dream. My first novel is going to be published.
If you feel like we’ve kinda been here before, you aren’t wrong. My book was to come out a little less than a year ago. Papers were signed. It was going to happen. Then some stuff went down with my publisher and I felt in limbo. It was nothing to do with my book, but with the actual publisher. That was a tough blow.
Woodhall Press came to my rescue. They are an independent publisher making big moves to grow their reach. They asked if I wanted to publish with them and I jumped at the chance – of course.
Still on track for a spring/summer 2020 release, then the pandemic hit and things came to a halt again. In some ways I still knew my book would be published, but as time went on with uncertainty in the world and with my book, nothing in either world was concrete. I kind of put it on the back burner to avoid letting it crush me.
In the end, I was okay with not moving forward with publishing last year because the marketplace was in a strange spot, and I didn’t really feel like promoting a book. Even now, I’ve had to push myself back into that excited, motivated, I GOT THIS mode. Like so many things right now, it’s a minute to minute deal, but more of the minutes are happy than not, so that’s a good thing.
Cause of Death officially comes out on May 4th. That’s right, May the fourth be with you … Star Wars Day ya’ll, and that alone has me pretty jazzed.
But you don’t have to wait until then. Please go pre-order Cause of Death now via Amazon or Barnes and Noble, and you know, tell everyone you know and spread the word and help me make this happen. Because I cannot do it alone. I need everyone I know and a lot of people I don’t and friends of friends of friends to buy a book or two.
I mean look at this cover, it’s gorgeous. You want to buy that book, don’t you???
I hope to land some events and share information about those. I’m working on it, but it’s not easy for a first time author to break into the marketplace. If you know of a bookstore I can reach out to or if you are a part of a book club and you would like to select my book and have me Zoom into a club meeting, definitely reach out. I would be thrilled to be a part of your book club!
For a refresher, Cause of Death is a twisty domestic thriller about family dynamics, love, and lust, and, um, well, murder.
That’s right, I like glitter, lipstick, and writing murder mysteries. It’s how I roll.
I love this book. I believe in this book. It’s a piece of me. And I hope you love it too.
I hope to find inspiration for more books as I settle into my new home with lakes and blue skies. These lakes and blue skies were in Windermere, one of my favorite hang outs so far. I know I am lucky, and I am forever grateful for the opportunities I have been given so far. There is definitely more on the horizon.
